Hi,

I have a font called 'Emilia' that was created and sold by Eiko Emori (a graphic designer) in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, during the 1990s. This is a font for writing in the 'syllabic' orthography used for some Canadian indigenous languages, in particular Ojibwe and Cree.

I have the font in Macintosh True Type format. Since I started using it with Mac OS X (most current version), I have noticed the following problem. I can no longer use the 'option-z' keyboard combination to produce the appropriate Emilia letter (I think this is ASCI number 189). Instead, the font switches to Times New Roman and I get the 'Omega' symbol. Selecting the 'omega' character and trying to format it with Emilia does not work.

This happens in all applications I have tried (Word, FileMaker, Nisus, others).

I have the same problem on two different OS X Macintoshes. But it works perfectly on an older OS 9 machine.

In Filemaker I get the following error message when I try to format the character produced by option-z as Emilia:

"The selection contains some character-set-specific characters, incompatible with the chosen font, and will not be changed to that font."

Does anyone have an idea what I can do about this? Or is there some place where I can get further information????

Thanks.

John
